Description
Sili-K 21% Silica is a complex fertilizer of silicon and potassium by Plant Food Co., meticulously formulated to enhance turfgrass health and performance. It delivers a high concentration of 21% bioavailable silicon dioxide and 10% soluble potash in the form of potassium silicate combined with a small amount of water soluble urea nitrogen that acts as a foliar uptake enhancer.
Silicon boosts chlorophyll and protein synthesis, contributing to overall vigor, while potassium regulates stomatal function, osmotic balance, and enzyme activation in turf grass.
Upon application, silicon promotes stiffened and more upright leaf blades, resulting in cleaner mowing cuts, improved light interception for enhanced photosynthesis. This creates a smoother play surface for faster and truer ball roll with reduced ball marks.
Physiologically, Sili-K enhances drought resistance and improves water use efficiency by modulating stomatal behavior and reducing transpiration. This helps maintain higher leaf water potential and turgor pressure, preventing wilting and sustaining photosynthesis with reduced irrigation frequency during stress periods.
Benefits
- Stimulates overall plant growth and stronger metabolism by increasing chlorophyll and protein synthesis.
- Silica stiffens leaf blades, resulting in sharper and more uniform cuts, providing firmer turf with improved photosynthesis.
- Superior playability with faster ball roll, truer surfaces, and fewer ball marks due to reduced fiction and better leaf structure.
- Enhance wear and traffic tolerance by reinforcing cell walls that resist abrasion, compaction, and mechanical stress with faster recovery.
- Enhance drought resistance by reducing transpiration and maintaining turgor pressure, allowing turf to better withstand dry periods.
- Improves water economy by conserving water more efficiently, requiring less frequent irrigation, while maintaining quality under stress.
- Delivers flexible application via foliar spray or injected through irrigation allowing easy integration into regular turf management programs.
Application
Directions for Use:
Greens, Tees and Fine Turf: Apply 32-64 ml of Green-T® SILI-K 21% Silica with 6.6-8.8 L of water per 100 m2 (0.3-0.7 gallons of Green-T® SILI-K 21% Silica with 66-88 gallons of water per acre), every 10 to 14 days throughout the growing season to increase wear tolerance and improved ball speed.
Fairways, Roughs, Sports Turf and Lawns: Apply 48-64 ml of Green-T® SILI-K 21% Silica with 4.4-8.8 L of water per 100 m2 (0.5.0.7 gallons of Green-T® SILI-K 21% Silica with 44-88 gallons of water per acre), once or twice per month throughout the growing season.
