Plant Food | LiquaGyp 9% Calcium, 4% Sulfur

Foremula LiquaGyp is a clear liquid fertilizer produced by Plant Food Co., formulated as a highly soluble alternative and supplement to traditional granular gypsum. By providing readily available calcium and sulfur with small amounts of nitrogen, it becomes an efficient tool for addressing sodium accumulation, compaction, and poor drainage in intensively manages turf soils.

  • More available Ca with fast and intermediate release than granular gypsum.
  • Displace harmful Na and Cl, flocculates and eliminates hydrogen sulfide from soil.
  • Promotes better soil structure, water infiltration and prevents compaction.
  • Thiosulfate sulfur acidifies soil and increases micronutrient availability.
  • Reduces SAR, raises EC and lowers pH when injected to irrigation.
  • Enhances soil firmness, playability and nutrient uptake in turf

Description

Foremula LiquaGyp is a liquid fertilizer developed by Plant Food Co., specifically formulated for professional turf management, such as golf course greens, tees, fairways, and sports fields. LiquaGyp serves as an advanced alternative and complementary supplement to traditional calcium sulfate (gypsum) fertilizer. It delivers highly bioavailable forms of calcium (Ca) and sulfur (S) along with nitrogen in a clear liquid formulation derived from calcium thiosulfate, calcium hydroxide, ammonium nitrate, and nitric acid. Unlike traditional granular gypsum, which has lower immediate solubility, LiquaGyp provides both fast release and intermediate release of calcium, making it far more readily available to plants and soil. The heightened solubility enables rapid displacement of sodium (Na) and chloride (Cl) ions from soil exchange sites which promote flocculation in soil. This improves soil structure by increasing pore space, enhancing water infiltration and uniform moisture distribution throughout the soil profile.

Additionally, the sulfur component in thiosulfate form, offers time-released acidification effect that helps dissolve salt complexes, increases the availability of various micronutrients to the turfgrass. It also eliminates hydrogen-sulfide induced black layer formation in anaerobic soil zones that improves soil firmness, surface playability and nutrient accessibility for turfgrass. When injected into irrigation systems, LiquaGyp increases the electrical conductivity (EC) of the water, reduces its pH, and lowers the Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR) which support effective ion displacement and soil amelioration processes. These combined actions counteract problems from high sodium or chloride soil with poor quality and compaction, ultimately supporting healthier turf growth, better nutrient uptake, and enhanced playability.

Benefits

  • Superior calcium availability and solubility than conventional granular gypsum.
  • Delivers both fast release and intermediate release calcium for sustained nutrient supply and plant uptake.
  • Rapidly displace harmful sodium (Na+) and chloride (Cl-) ions from soil exchange sites
  • Promotes soil particle flocculation that significantly improves overall soil structure and increases pore space.
  • Enhance water infiltration rates and ensure more uniform moisture distribution throughout the soil profile that prevents LDS and compaction.
  • Provide time releases thiosulfate sulfur that acidifies soil and dissolve salt complexes, which increases micronutrient availability.
  • Prevent or eliminates hydrogen sulfide induced black layer formation in anaerobic soil conditions.
  • Increases EC, decreases SAR, and lowers pH of irrigation water, mitigating sodium related soil dispersion issues.
  • Improves soil firmness, enhances surface playability, and creates more consistent, high-quality playing conditions.
  • Boosts overall nutrient accessibility and turfgrass health, supporting better stress tolerance and performance in intensively managed areas.

Application

Just 191 ml per 100 m2 of Foremula LiquaGyp provides similar calcium availability as 2.45-4.89 Kg per 100 m2 of gypsum over 4 weeks. Though 2.45-4.89 Kg of gypsum has much more total calcium, the high calcium solubility of ForemulaTM LiquaGyp makes it a valuable calcium source in monthly soil treatments to enhance playability, water infiltration and soil firmness. Based on soil tests, ForemulaTM LiquaGyp and calcium sulfate applications can be used injunction with each other.

Foremula LiquaGyp can be applied with other nutrients for the soil such as Green-T® Impulse, EDTA micronutrients and surfactants. Tank mixing with phosphate product is not recommended.

Directions for Use:

Greens, Tees and Fine Turf: Apply 95-191 ml of ForemulaTM LiquaGyp with 4.4-8.8 L of water per 100 m2. At higher application rates, irrigate for approximately 3 minutes to work the nutrients into the soil. Irrigate that night.

Fairways and Sports Turf: Apply 95-191 ml of ForemulaTM LiquaGyp with 4.4-8.8 L of water per 100 m2 (1.0 - 3.0 gallons of Foremula LiquaGyp with 44 - 88 gallons of water per acre).

Soil Flush: Apply up to 382 ml per 100 m2 of Foremula LiquaGyp, every 28 days throughout the growing season. Irrigate for 60 minutes for capillary action (capillarity). If soil puddles, pulse and pausing irrigation as necessary.

Injection: Use Foremula LiquaGyp to increase Electrical Conductivity (EC), reduce sodium absorption ratio, and supply available calcium and sulfur. Inject at the rate of 1 gallon per 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of irrigation water applied.
